The Skiplex sponsored British Independent Schools Ski Racing Alpine Champs ran earlier this month.
This Inaugural event, held in Pila, Italy was a great success with 16 schools represented over two days of competition. Run By BISS Racing, the schools ski racing programme provider, it proved to be very popular for a new event on the schools ski racing calendar.
With age groups represented from U10’s through to U21’s, the racing was exiting and great fun for the children taking part with many children racing for the first time.
Skiplex’ Performance Director, Phil Brown, has been involved with schools racing for some time and says ‘This is a new event, designed for entry level racers to be fun and not too intimidating as some of the races can be. Skiplex are proud to be involved with such an event getting more children involved in this great and enjoyable sport’
A great quote from one of the racers ‘It’s been a great end to the snow season for Niamh. In the BISS alpine school championships in Pila earlier this week, she came first in U12 Combi, 1st in GS, 2nd in parallel slalom and overall top mini girl. Plus she helped BSA win the minis team event! Even better in her opinion was that the combined prize was 2 bars of Milka chocolate!
Then in a tough field of over 40 girls at the Artemis British Interschools race she came 15th in the GS and 12th today in the Slalom. Best of all, her coaches were pleased with her skiing this week and she’s made some great friends. Roll on next year!’
